讲座学者简介:
哈利·迪金森(Harley D. Dickinson)1984年获兰卡斯特大学博士学位,现为萨斯喀彻温大学社会学系教授。曾任该校社会学系系主任、社会科学院副院长以及学校国际项目战略顾问;担任由U15大学组成的卡尔多大学联盟(CALDO Consortium)执行主席,该联盟致力于招收和资助来自南美洲的研究生。他曾任加拿大社会学会会长及其该学会下属期刊《加拿大社会学评论》的主编。他的研究主要关注知识体系的形成过程以及研究成果如何转化和应用于健康政策制定与服务提供中。目前的主要研究兴趣包括:知识体系,大学在研究性的知识成果的生产、传播和应用中的角色,高等教育国际化的本质及其对大学的科学研究、人才培养与社会服务功能产生的影响,以及这种变化之于区域和全球性的知识体系产生之贡献。多年来,他承担着社会学多门课程的教学,尤其精通社会学理论。
Short-bio of the speaker:
Harley D. Dickinson (Ph.D. 1984 Lancaster Unviersity) is Professor of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan. His current research interests focus on knowledge systems and the role of universities in the production, transmission and application of research knowledge in various policy and practice contexts. He is also researching the nature and consequences of the internationalization of higher education on the core research, teaching and service functions of universities and contributing to emerging regional and global knowledge systems. His past research has focused on knowledge system processes and the ways that research knowledge is transferred to and used in the context of health policy-making and service delivery. He has taught a wide range of sociology courses over the years and has specialized in sociological theory. His contributions to university leadership include service as Sociology Department Head, Vice Dean of Social Sciences, and Strategic Advisor – International Initiatives to the University of Saskatchewan. He also served as Executive Director for the CALDO Consortium, a Consortium of Canada’s U15 universities focused on the recruitment of funded graduate students from South America. He served as President of the Canadian Sociological Association and as Managing Editor of the Canadian Review of Sociology, the official journal of the Canadian Sociological Association.
