乔安•马丁内兹-阿列尔现为西班牙巴塞罗那自治大学经济学与经济史教授、环境科学与技术研究所研究员，同时也在巴西坎皮纳斯州立大学、厄瓜多尔拉美社科院、德国柏林自由大学和美国斯坦福大学、加州大学戴维斯分校、耶鲁大学等多所学校任兼职教授。作为学生和研究人员，他曾在牛津大学圣安东尼学院度过十余年的时光。他是国际生态经济学学会的创始人及前会长，并曾于2000-2008年间担任欧洲环境署科学委员会成员，曾任巴塞罗那自治大学副校长。马丁内斯-阿列尔教授的代表性著作包括：《西班牙南部的劳工与地主》（1971）、《古巴与秘鲁的庄园、种植园与集体农场》（1977）、《生态经济学：能源、环境与社会》（1987）、《多元环境主义》（合著，1977）及《穷人之环境主义：生态冲突与估价》（2002）等。还参与编著了《回归地球：生态经济学的实践应用》（1996）、《反思环境史：世界体系史与全球环境变迁》（2007）、《生态经济学新发展》（2008）、《生态经济学指南》（2015）等多部作品。同时，他也是国际期刊《生态经济》、《环境价值》、《农政变迁》、《农民研究》的编委成员。此前曾主持完成环境公平组织、责任与贸易项目，目前正在主持承担欧洲研究委员会（ERC）重点研究项目“环境正义与可持续发展”（2016-2021）。因其将生态学、发展研究和正义导向的方法引入经济学研究及由此所带来的理论和方法上的突破，马丁内兹-阿列尔荣获2017年度列昂季耶夫奖。

Short-bio of the speaker:

Born in 1939 in Spain, Joan Martinez-Alier is a Professor of Economics and Economic History and researcher at the Institute for Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA), Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. He was a student and research fellow of St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, between 1963 and 1973, and has been a visiting professor at the State University of Campinas (Brazil), FLACSO (Ecuador), Free University of Berlin, Stanford University, University of California (Davis) and Yale University. He once served as vice-rector at UAB. He is a founding member and former-president of the International Society for Ecological Economics. He was a member (2000-08) of the scientific committee, European Environment Agency.He is the author of Labourers and Landowners in Southern Spain (1971), Haciendas, Plantations and Collective Farms (Cuba and Peru) (1977), Ecological Economics: Energy, Environment and Society (1987), Varieties of Environmentalism (with Ramachandra Guha, 1997), and The Environmentalism of the Poor: A Study of Ecological Conflicts and Valuation (2002). He is co-editor of Getting down to earth: practical applications of Ecological Economics (1996), Rethinking Environmental History: World-System History and Global Environmental Change (2007), Recent Developments in Ecological Economics (2008), and A Handbook of Ecological Economics (2015).He also serves as member of editorial board of Ecological Economics, Environmental Values, Journal of Agrarian Change, Journal of Peasant Studies.After successfully completed the Environmental Justice Organizations, Liabilities and Trade (EJOLT) project, he is currently the director of an ERC advanced grant project “ENVJUSTICE” (2016-2021). In March 2017, he was awarded Leontief Prize for his outstanding contributions to economic theory that address contemporary realities and support just and sustainable societies.
