讲座学者简介:
亨利•伯恩斯坦1945年出生于英国伦敦。伦敦大学亚非学院发展研究系著名教授,曾任发展研究系主任16年,拥有剑桥大学历史学学士学位和伦敦政治经济学院社会学硕士学位。曾在英国、法国、荷兰、加拿大、美国、中国、南非的多所著名大学任教。曾长期主编国际著名学术期刊《农民研究》和《农政变迁》,并为《农政变迁》杂志的创始人之一。其研究领域包括社会理论、发展理论、政治经济学、农政变迁、土地改革等。主要著作包括:《农政变迁的阶级动力》(2010)、《南非农政问题》(2006)、《非洲的圈地?“旱地中湿地”的社会动力学》(2000)、《农政问题》(1996)、《亚洲的种植园、无产阶级与农民》(1992)、《农村生计:危机与应对》(1992)、《粮食问题》(1990)、《第三世界的斗争》(1982)、《欠发达与发展:第三世界的今天》(1973)等。
Short-bio of the speaker:
Born in London in 1945, and has BA in History from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in Sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London. Henry Bernstein is an Emeritus Professor of Development Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He has been a teacher and researcher in the UK, France, The Netherlands, Canada, USA, China, South Africa and Tanzania. He was a co-editor and Co-founder of two distinguished journals: Journal of Peasant Studies and Journal of Agrarian Change. His research area covers social theory and development theory, the political economy of agrarian change, land reform, and the maize industry in South Africa. His books (as single author, co-author, editor and co-editor) include Class Dynamics of Agrarian Change (2010); The Agrarian Question in South Africa (2006); African Enclosures? The Social Dynamics of ‘Wetlands in Drylands’ (2000); Agrarian Questions, Essays in Appreciation of TJ Byres (1996); Plantations, Proletarians and Peasants in Colonial Asia (1992); Rural Livelihoods: Crises and Responses (1992); The Food Question (1990) and Third World Lives of Struggle (1982); Underdevelopment and Development: Third World Today (1973).
