1. Professional Profile

The rural Development major of Northwest A&F University was developed from the original agricultural Extension major in the field of Agricultural Science and Technology organization and Service. It officially enrolled students in 2018 and has a relatively complete training system, which highlights the cultivation characteristics of the close combination of "production, learning, research and government". From the point of subject development, rural development is one of the professional master's eight belonging to agricultural areas, and rural development planning and management, rural community governance, rural sustainable utilization of natural resources, that is related to the sustainable rural development and agricultural technology popularization and research direction in the field of professional, aims to develop the rural development basic theoretical knowledge, Master's degree students with practical abilities in rural regional planning and rural development project management, and make full use of the university's agricultural science and technology extension model (Western agriculture model) and its platform advantages, to train high-level applied talents for rural development for relevant government departments, institutions, scientific research institutions and social organizations.

The core courses of rural development include: rural sociology research topics, rural public management, modern agricultural innovation and rural revitalization strategy, rural governance and rural construction, development theory and practice, social investigation and research methods, agricultural extension theory and practice, and frontier topics of rural development, etc.
