1. Professional Profile

Northwest A&F University is the second batch of professional master's degree authorized units in China, and began to enroll the first professional master's degree students in 2011. Based on the needs of social development and the characteristics of the degree, three training directions of social work theory and method, rural social work and social policy are set up. In recent years, social work has made great progress in curriculum construction, practice base construction and professional platform construction, relying on the good running conditions, abundant teaching staff and rich humanistic atmosphere of the School of Humanities and Social Development, giving full play to the advantages of teaching staff of social work, sociology, psychology and other comprehensive disciplines. In the training program, a training mode combining theoretical study, professional training and practical operation is designed. The specialty is rural social work theory and method and rural social policy research. In 2020, MSW was selected as the Training base for social work professionals in Shaanxi Province.

2. Core courses

According to the overall requirements of the training program of NATIONAL MSW Education Steering Committee, there are 9 compulsory courses including public courses and main courses in the field, and 12 professional elective courses. The professional core courses are social work theory, social work ethics, advanced social work practice, social research methods, social policy, and social service management.

3. Employment direction and prospects

Under the background of current social governance and social construction as well as the comprehensive implementation of rural revitalization strategy, social work major has broad prospects for development. The employment orientation of the students is mainly divided into two categories: one is to pursue doctoral degree further study, and the graduates have been admitted to xiamen University, Southeast University, East China University of Science and Technology, Jilin University, China Agricultural University, Northwest A&F University and other well-known universities. Second, in civil affairs, women's federations, communist Youth League, universities, street offices and other departments engaged in social work services and management. In the past five years, 180 graduates have been sent to the society, and a group of management personnel, service personnel, education and research personnel with a sense of professional mission have been trained.
